Grace Dunford

I am a UK-based artist working with paper, thread, light, and repetitive hand-made processes. My practice centres on sculpture and installation, using folding, weaving, stitching, and pattern-making to transform simple materials into intricate forms.

The act of making is central to my work. Through slow, sustained processes of repetition, I build structures that explore rhythm, geometry, fragility, and the relationship between light and material. Paper's ability to be both delicate and resilient continues to fascinate me, offering endless possibilities for transformation.

In recent years, my work has expanded into larger-scale installations that create immersive, contemplative spaces. I am interested in how repeated forms, subtle shifts in light, and carefully constructed structures can alter our experience of time and attention. These works invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and engage in a quieter, more reflective way of seeing.

Living with a long-term autoimmune condition has deepened my appreciation for slowness, rest, and mindful engagement. These have become important influences within my practice, shaping an approach that values patience, care, and sustained attention. Through my work, I hope to offer moments of calm, wonder, and contemplation within an increasingly fast-paced world.
